Candice Cole
As a proud DC native, Candice joins The Young Turks as a Washington Correspondent who is dedicated to using her skills as a journalist to amplify the issues that impact underserved and marginalized communities by increasing access to accurate and factual information to serve the greater good.
Before joining TYT, Candice served as the Senior White House Producer and fill-in Correspondent for Black News Channel. In her professional capacity, she brings more than a decade of journalism, multimedia, and public sector strategic communications experience to the table.
After working as a television news reporter in upstate New York, Mississippi, Richmond, VA, and DC, Candice took a brief hiatus from news to serve as the Communications Director for the City of Jackson, Mississippi, under Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba. In that role, she instituted citywide communication and social media initiatives to promote public health, education, economic opportunity, and social justice for the city’s 164,000 residents. She also served as the city’s chief spokesperson and led the City by communicating to its residents during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. She then took on a role as Executive Vice President for social justice public relations firm, 617MediaGroup.
Candice holds a Master of Art in Television Journalism from Goldsmiths, University of London, and is a proud HBCU graduate of Bowie State University, where she taught journalism courses as an adjunct professor.
Most importantly, she is a wife and new mother to her son.
In the future, Candice wants to broaden her skills as a storyteller and produce documentary projects focusing on issues centered around human rights and social issues.
